Sarah Brown's Family Portrait

About Sarah Brown

Being a “Lifestyle Photographer”, I document life at every stage.  I specialize in everything family and the cycle of life. Your wedding day only happens once (well, usually). Babies are only babies for a moment and then they are graduating high school in the blink of an eye. College comes and goes and before you know it, the wedding!  Life’s full circle.

My career in photography came unexpectedly.  For as long as I can remember my family and friends have always counted on me to take photos at all of the family events and gatherings.  I always had a camera on me just in case and documented everything in my life so I could look back one day and remember all the great things my life has brought me through the years.

Have you ever felt like you were meant to do something great? A lingering feeling that you just couldn’t shake, but you just didn’t know what it was? I never could decide what I wanted to be when I grew up. I started college right out of high school, changed my major 5 times and ended up with a generic Liberal Arts degree.  I always envisioned myself working in corporate America, as my father was a business man I wanted to follow in his footsteps; so corporate America was where I got my start. I was truly happy. I loved my job, but still the question lingered…Is this the great “thing” I am supposed to do for the rest of my life? Every time the question came up in my mind, there was always a resounding “No” as my answer. One day something unexpected happened. I received a call from my mother in law saying that her best friend’s sister’s granddaughter (did you follow all that?) was getting married near where I live and was looking for a photographer. To my surprise she had suggested that I be the photographer. I had never really thought about photography as a profession, but always loved being behind the camera.

After meeting with the bride, I took the job as their photographer. I was excited and scared to death at the same time! Photographing a wedding isn’t something that you can just go back and re-do. I thought to myself, if I miss a shot I miss it forever…there is no rewind button with this!
When I arrived at the wedding and started shooting it was as if a switch was turned on inside me and instantly I knew…this is the great “thing” I had always been meant to do.

From that day forward I wanted to take my passion and create beautiful images and change the way people thought about photography. I wanted to help people understand that a picture is not just picture. I wanted to capture people’s personalities in their surroundings, in their relationships with each other, and the essence of their life to create art for them to cherish and pass on to future generations.

With Passion for life,

Sarah
