Frequently Asked Questions

How do I reserve my date?

To reserve your date we just need a signed contract and your deposit of one third of your chosen package price. Easy!

All of your packages include an assistant. What do they do?

Lizz, my assistant, is actually more of a second shooter. She assists me but always has her own camera and is shooting opposite angles and locations to capture to most action from your day.

What happens if you can’t shoot due to sickness?

I work very hard to stay healthy. However, if I was unable to shoot your event due to sickness I have a group of trusted photographers in my area that I can count on to help cover your event. If for some reason coverage cannot be arranged your full deposit will be returned to you. Please know that we will do everything to make sure you are not left without a photographer for your wedding day.

How many pictures does the Photographer take?

This depends on the size of the wedding. On average, I shoot 1000 - 1500 exposures. As each wedding is uniquely different from the next, I will photograph as much as I feel necessary to capture the great moments of your day.

Black & White or Color?

We shoot in digital format so all images are available in color, black and white, sepia and selective coloring.

Group Shots / Formal Shots?

These are always an important part of the wedding day. Prior to your event we will discuss who you will want included and where you will want them taken. We do this because we do not shoot from a list. If there are special people or groups that you really want photographed we ask that you just give us a list and let those folks know ahead of time. If everyone knows where to be, etc this process shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes. Additional time will be needed to take shots of just the bride and groom but this time is scheduled outside of the time set aside for group/formal shots.

What are the on-site requirements for the Photographer?

Due to the long working day (12+ hours easy including travel time), it is necessary for a hot meal to be provided for the Photographer and assistant. Arrangements should be made with the catering staff in advance to avoid confusion during the wedding banquet. This should be timed with the guests' meal so that no photo opportunities will be missed while the Photographer eats for 15 mintues.

Is digital better than film?

High-resolution digital imaging is considerably more flexible than traditional film. With digital images I can easily correct for exposure fluctuations, image imperfections and add a variety of special effects that allows me to make each individual image a work of art. Additionally, I can keep your investment low because there are no costs associated with traditional film and processing.

What will my digital prints look like?

Your enlargements will be printed on Kodak or Fuji paper using the same chemical process that is used to print pictures from film. Your pictures will look exactly the same as if they were shot with film.

What does “post production” mean?

Each image will be adjusted for optimal brightness, contrast, color balance, saturation and sharpness. Additionally, I may add a variety of digital filters to the image to bring out the story each individual image has to express.

Who owns the digital images?

All images are copyrighted by Sarah Brown Photography. However, most of our packages include a master CD with your high-resolution files along with a print release for you to be able to reproduce the images. We will provide you with a list of reputable labs that we recommend or you can choose where to have them printed.

How does the online gallery/website access work?

Your proofs will be posted online within one month of your wedding day. An email will go out to all those who pre-registered on our site letting them know your images are available online for viewing along with your Event ID for accessing your private gallery.

Can my family and friends order prints?

Absolutely. Anyone can order prints through the online gallery for your convenience.

Can formal or parent albums be purchased?

Yes. We can design and print parent albums at any time. There are many options and cover designs available.

What style do you shoot?

Our shooting style can best be described as storytelling. Some would call this photojournalism, some call it candid. Our goal is to capture the essence of your day and all the emotion that comes with it….Love, laughter, tears and exhilaration.

What type of equipment will be used?

I shoot using professional digital single lens reflex (SLR) cameras and lenses from Canon, a leading manufacturer of photographic equipment. I bring a full supply of backup equipment to every event/job.

How do you archive the photos?

I archive all my work on several hard drives. In addition to these backups I also burn everything to disc.
